Eckelmann acquires 3tn Industriesoftware GmbH
The Wiesbaden-based company Eckelmann has acquired 3tn Industriesoftware, which was founded in 1999, thereby expanding its portfolio in the field of automated logistics. 3tn develops and implements industrial control and management software that optimizes transportation and warehousing processes in the metal industry.
3tn Industriesoftware GmbH was founded in 1999 as a startup in Dortmund by Thomas Niepmann and Thorsten Tönjes. Since then, the company has grown steadily and strongly, and today offers project-specific software to optimize warehouse management in the metal industry.
“We decided to sell 3tn because we are convinced that the company’s full market potential can best be realized by joining forces with a major strategic partner. Given the many overlaps in the relevant target groups for our service offerings, we are convinced that, as part of the Eckelmann Group, 3tn is perfectly positioned for future growth,” emphasize Thomas Niepmann and Thorsten Tönjes.
For over 30 years, Eckelmann has been a manufacturer- and technology-independent automation partner in the metallurgical industry. As a full-service provider for industrial automation and digitalization, the family-owned Eckelmann Group has been offering one-stop system integration for nearly 50 years: customized automation solutions, hardware and software development, lifecycle management, and smart services. Nearly 500 employees at seven locations in Germany, Europe, China, and the U.S. are driving this success:
- in mechanical engineering, plant engineering, and special-purpose machinery manufacturing
- in the regulated sectors of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical technology
- in building and refrigeration control systems
- in the unregulated sectors of manufacturing, intralogistics, and digitalization (including steel mills).
In the presence of the company’s founder, Dr. Gerd Eckelmann, Philipp Eckelmann, CEO of Eckelmann AG, emphasized: “3tn is a unique company with an impressive concept for project-specific software. These capabilities go hand in hand with the control systems we develop.” We look forward to getting to know the 3tn employees even better! Now it’s time to work together to further develop the company – which, along with its subsidiary GIPA, will operate under the name Eckelmann 3tn in the future – and position it for international markets. In doing so, we will offer excellent prospects to the team of specialists whom we warmly welcome under the umbrella of the Eckelmann Group!”
Eckelmann 3tn will continue to be headquartered in Holzwickede, Westphalia. The parties to the agreement have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
