20 years of innovation – a success story

Thomas Niepmann and Thorsten Tönjes founded 3tn in 1999, after several years of joint project experience in developing and implementing warehouse management systems for the metals industry.

Their business idea was to develop individualized, project-specific software that would allow operators in the metals industry to optimize warehouse management in their operations. In the course of its 20-year history, the company has evolved into a unique industry player: From project to project, 3tn has added new functionalities to its basic system to meet the requirements of daily routines in the mills.

Today, systems from 3tn optimize the transport and storage activities in facilities of leading steel producers, such as Salzgitter AG, thyssenkrupp steel or voestalpine.

A team of interdisciplinary experts

The 3tn team consists of software developers, computer scientists, electrical technicians and engineers.

They bring expertise to bear in all stages of a project: analyses and feasibility studies, software development, project management, commissioning, and user training.
